Dearborn Engineering Lab Building Replacement

The Engineering Lab Building (ELB) was one of the four original buildings constructed in 1959 on the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus. UM-Dearborn proposes construction of a new building to replace ELB that will enable active learning studio settings, recording of lectures and spaces for student collaboration. A new, approximately 123,000-gross square-foot building is planned that will include teaching laboratories designed to facilitate entrepreneurial problem solving to complement the more product development-oriented laboratories of industry partners, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration in the context of 21st century engineering, and offer academic pathways to exceptional careers for decades to come.
